Keeping It Legit

Standard

My apologies to my followers.

I am sure that you noticed that several of my most recent posts are gone. This is because I have elected to remove them. Why? Because much of it violated copyright laws, due to the fact that I posted entire cartoons, and an entire silent film, I may repost some of this stuff at another time, after I am clear that I am not in violation of any law or agreement. It is a sticky thing and I hate it, but I also understand it. For instance, I saw the complete Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs on youTube, That is clearly a violation, and at some point will be taken down.

However the reason I took these posts out was also because I intend to use Adsense, from Google. in the hope of generating some revenue from relevant ads appearing on my blog. Google is a stickler for not posting ads on sites that contain copyrighted material, or anything remotely pornographic. One post which I thought was a bit of fun could easily be regarded as pornographic, and so I removed it. I don’t want to take any chances. If Google or any blog directories decide your blog is suspect, for whatever reason, you can forget expanding your audience.

Truth be told, it felt kind of creepy to be posting one thing after another that I knew was copyright protected. I thought I would simply remove it if there were ever a request to do so. But I would like to generate revenue with my blog if I can. This doesn’t mean that my blog will be inundated with horrible ads. I pick what gets posted and where, except for the ads that WordPress sticks in, I have no power over those ads. It is fun to hand those movies and cartoons to you, but the truth is that you could go to youTube and view them for yourself. Not that I encourage copyright infringement. It would be far better for our economy if you bought the DVD.

Sorry again for the inconvenience. However, I want this blog to consist of my writing, not just videos I find on youTube, and I don’t wish to offend the delicate sensibilities of my readers. Having to adhere to the terms of use of Adsense will keep me honest. I can also pass along what I learn about what can and cannot be posted, as far as copyright infringement is concerned. I am sure many of you would find that useful. As far as the sexual material is concerned, I might set up a separate blog for the edgier, more sexual stuff, and keep this one more mainstream in it’s content.

All in all, it sucks for both of us, because I really liked those last few posts! And it took me hours to put together! I will try to make up for it with some great posts. Let me know what you would like to see on my blog and I will focus on it, so long as it isn’t pornographic or copyright infringing. This has been a real all over the place grab bag of a blog. It needs more focus.
